Personal Statement Checklist

Please ensure that you address these points directly in your personal statement or in the relevant knowledge/training section of the online application form.

  1. Your level of training: normally at least four years of training in general surgery
  2. Current employment: you should be working in a general surgery training environment at commencement of programme
  3. Other study commitments: You should not be undertaking any other postgraduate courses
  4. FRCS: You should normally be looking to sit your FRCS examination during or soon after completion of the programme

                                   

Before submitting your application please be prepared to upload the following documentation:

  1. A scan of your degree certificate
  2. A scan of your degree transcript (a document issued by your university which lists all the courses, units, results and other information that make up your degree)
  3. Details of two referees (references must be on headed paper, dated and signed by the referee) Click here for further information.
  4. If English is not your first language, you will need to provide evidence of proficiency in English eg. IELTS or TOEFL certificate. Further information on English Language requirements is available here: www.ed.ac.uk/studying/international/english/postgraduate/medicine-veterinary

 

All of the above documents should be uploaded when you are ready to start your application to the University of Edinburgh, College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine. Failure to provide these supporting documents could delay the application process.

Please ensure that you are uploading a document of 2MB or less, and of one the following types: .doc, .docx, .rtf, .pdf, .txt, .jpg, .gif, .zip, .xls. Documents larger than 2MB initially may appear to upload, but will not display properly when you are invited to view the uploaded file. If this happens, you should opt to upload a different document.



Programme Fees for 2012/13:   £8,450 for 2-year ChM (£4,225 per annum).
